Institutional data has been a forefront concern of institutions for the past several years. Ranging from governance policies to leveraging data to informing institutional strategies and decision-making, to impacting teaching and learning, discovering what data institutions have and can easily access is paramount.  Although institutional systems account for some of this data, a vast amount of it is generated, held and at times controlled by third-party systems. Developing an institutional data strategy is not as straightforward as it sounds. In this session presenters will take a deeper look at how data ownership needs to be a negotiated process that touches all parts of the institution—from faculty to academic and IT leadership—to understanding who owns the data analysis.
