Caliper provides the groundwork needed to define clear and concise measurements across disparate learning platforms and tools. It allows researchers, schools, and tool providers to gain powerful insights on how learners, instructors, and course materials are performing. This session will walk through the powerful internal analytics platform that McGraw-Hill Education developed leveraging Caliper events and a combination of open source tools to be able to quickly iterate on data and understand performance with the goal of improving learning outcomes. Data lakes, message streaming, dimensional modeling of learning data, development of machine learning models, and rapid development of dashboards will be covered. Potential pitfalls and possible solutions to them will be discussed.
